Commercial and Development

We are currently seeking technologies providers in the areas of small-scale irrigation systems; 80% of Kenyan avocados is rainfed which are often erratic compounded by climate change. This hampers an optimal fruit production. We are therefore seeing opportunities for the development and adoption by the growers of innovative small scale irrigation systems that employ renewable energy concept as well as harnessing water harvesting potential. As an agricultural enterprise involved in the growing, contracting and export of fresh fruits, vegetables and largely working with small -holder farmers in the country we have exciting job opportunities for qualified, young and energetic personnel in the following positions.

Employees Responsibilities:

  • Tracking company expenditures whilst employing proper controls and account for monies/expenses and help in ensuring effective internal controls and minimizing risks.
  • Preparing financial documents such as quotations, billing and LPOs
  • Prepare payments of goods and services suppliers to the company.
  • Reporting on accounts payable and receivables
  • Handling accruals and prepayments
  • Assisting with budgets
  • Posting  financial information into QuickBooks
  • Coordinating internal and external audits
  • Assisting in  year-end accounting and financial analysis
  • Play a leading role in the stock and physical assets accounting and reconciling them on monthly basis.
  • Timely reconciliation of bank accounts.
  • Generating ETR  and filing monthly tax returns on time  i.e VAT and withholding tax
  • Preparation of annual statutory accounts for audit and tax returns.
  • Provide effective communication and correspondence with suppliers, Customers, financiers, clients, and other business issues.

Experience: 3 years minimum in a busy factory or production sectors/settings.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Excellent Skills with Microsoft Office 
  • Organized & attention to detail.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  •  QuickBooks knowhow 
  • Bachelor’s Degree and at least CPA Section 3
  • Male candidate is preferred.

Salary offers 30- 40k

Key Function

This is a highly demanding new position in the company with an onset responsibility to increase sales by onboarding new clientele in the EU, Middle East, China, and other ear maked markets for fresh, processed avocados and passion fruits. The position requires an individual with utmost dedication, knowledge and experience in sales and marketing of fruits and vegetables in the international/export markets.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Acquire new clients and achieve the sales targets for our organic and conventional avocados, mangos and passion fruits in the EU and Asian markets in line with the company’s growth. 
  • Establish clients and generate sales for the planned frozen fruits in the EU, Southeast Asia and locally. 
  • Responsible for ensuring high touch customer service, delivery, and experience. 
  • Design strategies and undertake marketing and promotion of its products in the targeted markets. 
  • Abilities to periodically undertake products competitive landscape study and coming up with strategic plans to maintain company’s market position and growth. 
  • Ensure the company has a robust social media platform and are actively maintained. 
  • Product brand development and management. 
  • Periodically carry out market research, surveys, and development within the company’s product diversification plans. 
  • Effectively work with production and logistics departments in order ensure timely and seamlessly delivery of orders. 
  • Ensure all the time the business meets requisite market and regulatory requirements.

Requirements:

The position is a performance based and highly demanding and only candidates confident they meet the following minimum requirements should apply.

Education: A marketing degree or a related business degree from a reputable university is requisite.

Experience: A minimum of three years demonstrable hands-on experience in export commodities sales and marketing in a busy environment.

  1. A good working knowledge of dealing with importers and retailers in the fresh fruit and vegetables markets in the EU will be an added advantage.
  2. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 
  3. Evidence and ability to use MS office is a prerequisite. 
  4. Knowledge working with marketing tools and software.

Field Technical and Compliance Manager

Job Function: The position is responsible for overseeing and management of the avocado, passion fruit, mangos and vegetables out growers and company own farm operations.

Employees Responsibilities:

  • Overall supervision of agronomists, farm supervisors and other field workers by providing a proper leadership, guidance and control in order to have an effective field operation.
  • The employee will have a leading role in implementing the company’s ongoing and proposed projects amongst the farmer’s schemes e.g permaculture, Living wages and Living Incomes, agroforestry.
  • Increase fruit production and quality by amongst other intervention measures ensure proper adoption of agreed farming practices amongst the growers notably pests and diseases management.
  • Equip producers with knowledge, awareness on organic farming principles, better avocado orchard management and certifications for organic, GlobalGap, Fairtrade and SMETA, through farmer trainings and other relevant instruments.
  • Develop production protocols for the commercialized crops.
  • Oversee the company’s passion fruit growing and other proposed projects.
  • Communicate effectively about the company’s farmer development model, plans etc to farmers, project stakeholders and the wider public in order to advance its vision and mission.

Education and professional requirement:

A minimum degree in BSC crops, agriculture or horticulture

Professional Experience:

  • Demonstrable agronomic skills in fruits orchard management especially avocados and passion fruits.
  • Abilities to train farmers, peers and disseminate good agricultural practices and adoption thereof with emphasize to environmental sound practice.
  • Conversant or working experience with either GlobalGap/Grasp or EU organic standards in busy farming environment.
  • 3- 7 years’ experience working with small- holder farmers in commercial oriented schemes or a large-scale farm enterprise is necessary.
  • Abilities to use MS office suite.

Company Administrator

We are filling the position of a company administrator with proficiency in accounts.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for monitoring day-to-day business operations, interacting with external partners, improving business and employee performance and negotiating contracts.
  • Handle personnel matters to do with staffing, directing and management of workers.  
  • Planning, coordinating and supervising of the company’s activities.
  • Active participation and play a leading role in ensuring the company meets it’s mid and long term objectives.
  • Negotiate and approve agreements, contracts etc with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Budgeting, close monitory of company expenses and ensure prudential utilization of the company’s resources. .
  • Responsible for the management of company’s assets.
  • To ensure the company meets all statutory requirements and respective product market standards.
  • Responsible for the implementation and management of the company’s farmers and workers projects.
  • Manage and enhance the business programs, technologies, and SOPs and policies.
  • Ensure a functional office with up to date management environment.

Skills and academic requirements:

  • A degree in Business administration degree, BCom or equivalent is necessary.

Farm Supervisor-Subukia Nakuru

  • Oversee the company small-scale farm operations with livestock, gardens, avocados and passion fruits.
  • Demonstrate good agronomic and animal husbandry skills in order to ensure a commercial viable venture.
  • Sales and marketing of the farm produce.
  • Small holder organic avocado farmers outreach.

Requirements.

  • Certificate or diploma in organic agricultural with a minimum of one year experience 24 years minimum age.
  • Good organization, communication, planning and supervision skills.
  • Willingness to work in dynamic and rural settings.
